I enjoyed your article, Lisa.

I didn't know that Champion's paper was on that site. After visiting it now, I see there are some Arrowwood issues, too. None for the rest of the County towns, yet.

Maybe in the future.

I'll look forward to any other articles that you do.

According to the Lomond News in the June 30, 1932 edition of the Calgary Herald, the Forrestville School was moved into Lomond by C.R. Adams and C.F. Koch to be used as an Anglican Church.

I'd like to sincerely thank the Vulcan and District Historical Society Archives Committee for their hard work and research on the rural schools. They have been an integral part of the Vulcan County History Blog and the articles can now serve as historical resources for the people of Vulcan County forever. Thank you!

The story of Peter 'Lordly' Veregin and his companion Anastasia, son Peter P. Veregin, and the Doukhobor settlement at Shouldice is an interesting one in itself.

A good article on the subject is posted here:

I recall helping with the planting of the poplar trees at the beginnings of "Little Bow Park". I believe it was an initiative of the Lions Club along with churches in the area that helped with volunteers to plant these trees. They were just saplings at the time of planting and to see these majestic trees now had quite the impact when I saw them a few years back. Beautiful park!
